Mom's Talk: Send Us Your Kids' Letters to Santa

Attach letters to Santa to the comments field here or e-mail an editor. We don't need the child's last name, but his or her age and hometown would be nice. You can even include their school name, if you're so inclined.

There are plenty of newspapers and websites these days that publish letters to Santa.

There's www.emailsanta.com.

There's the Operation Santa Claus website, from the U.S. Postal Service where, unfortunately, "the latest date to receive a reply from the North Pole has passed." Still, kids can do a lot of cool things, like:

The e-mail Santa website draws an international crowd and letters from kids of all ages. Here's a sampling:

  • "My English is terrible. But My hope is great," says Javier from Chile.
  • "Does silly Rudolph realy know how to hula dance?" asks Patrice, 6, of Quebec.
  • "Gee it's hard being six. I hope seven is easier?" Ah, the trials of Damian of Adelaide, Australia.
  • "I don't want to ask for things like peace or things like that because it's our work to finish with them!!!!" says Laura, 22, of Spain.
  • "I wish that my Dad didn't have to die from cancer," said Tayna-Louise, 7, from Mississauga, Ontario.
  • "My daddy put up flashing Chrisstmas lights for Rudolf. He says now the roof looks like a landing strip!" says Farrah, 3, of Bowling Green, KY.

All these are wonderful. Some make your heart ache. Others make you laugh out loud. But none of them are local.

So we're asking you, our moms of the Tri-Cities, to help us put a smile on a child's face by posting a sentence or two from your son's or daughter's letter to Santa, or from a child you know who's maybe not your own.

Include the child's first name, age, and hometown or school, but no need for a last name. If you're more comfortable with e-mail, send your letter to rickn@patch.com.

Patch will relay your missive to the North Pole, and together we can share the joy, innocence and belief in Christmas as seen from children's eyes.

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
