Metra: Accident Halts UP-West Train Near Roosevelt Road

A semi-tractor trailer appears to be involved in the late-night accident.

Metra has reported that a train on the Union Pacific West line was involved in an accident near the Route 38 crossing Monday night.

A semi-tractor trailer was seen stopped on the tracks. A Metra alert sent out just after 10 p.m. indicated that train No. 68 was involved in an accident near the crossing, which is just west of the Geneva border in West Chicago.

It was unclear whether anyone was injured in the reported accident.

Eastbound traffic on Route 38 was diverted north on Kautz Road as police and rescue personnel continued working.

Details of the incident weren't immediately available Monday night. The semi that had been parked on the tracks had been cleared by 10:30 p.m.
