Less Than 2 Weeks to 62nd Annual Swedish Days

Mark the calendar, make your plans, you won't want to miss a minute of the FUN!

In less than two weeks, Geneva’s 62nd  Annual Swedish Days —A Midsommar Festival will kick off on Tuesday, June 21, and run through Sunday, June 26. “The Grandaddy of Illinois Festivals” will entertain more than 200,000 visitors and residents with a combination of favorite traditional activities and some new and exciting attractions.

Free nightly musical entertainment on Central Stage will have you singing and dancing to music from the last four decades. Each afternoon on the courthouse lawn you can sit beneath the towering trees, enjoy a relaxing lunch at Unplugged while listening to the musical stylings of three talented entertainers.

Shoppers look forward each year to the Art & Craft Show held Tuesday through Thursday on Hamilton Street. More than 100 fine crafters show handcrafted items from Adirondack chairs to stained glass to satin pillows. For a Scandinavian art flavor, the Norwegian Rosemaling Show is held Wednesday through Saturday at Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St.

The grand finale on Sunday is the 62nd  Annual Swedish Days Parade. If your heart beats a little faster when you hear the beat of the drums and blare of a brass band, if colorful floats filled with smiling people brings a smile to your face, then you won’t want to miss a minute of this wonderful hometown parade. Carson’s Floors, 728 W. State St., is conveniently located along the parade route and will be open for business during the parade and offering free water to customers.

Swedish Days offers something for everyone during the six-day festival. But all the fun doesn’t happen magically—it takes hundreds of volunteers who share their time and talents to help produce memories for a lifetime. Geneva thanks those loyal community supporters.
