LEGO Competition Open to Geneva Kids

It's in Chicago, but kids here can participate. And we know how good we are at LEGOs.

We know how good Geneva kids are at LEGO construction.

The Heartland Elementary School students took fourth place in the .

Now, LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Chicago is holding a contest to find its first-ever MINIMASTER Model Builder, and Geneva students are encouraged to take part.

The winner will learn LEGO building secrets from a Master Model Builder including  the techniques that were used in building MINILAND, how a Master Model Builder uses LEGO Digital Designer, how he creates new models for the Model Builder Workshop and how to take a picture and create a LEGO mural.

“Being a Master Model Builder involves a lot more than just creative thinking, though that is a very important part,” said Daniel Morey, Master Model Builder at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Chicago. “Many of the skills I use to do my job are not so different from an architect or a carpenter, and we’re looking to teach these important skills to the winner of our contest.”

Applicants age 6 to 12 are invited to create a 90-second video telling why they should be selected as the MINIMASTER Model Builder. To enter the contest, children must have permission from their parent or guardian to upload their video entry atwww.Facebook.com/LDCChicago.

All videos will be posted in a gallery on LEGOLAND Discovery Center Chicago’s Facebook page where users can vote for their favorites. And if any Genevans are in the competition, we'll find their video and present it on Geneva Patch.
