It's National Night Out!—5 Things You Should Know for Tuesday, Aug. 2

Residents of Geneva can attend a free National Night Out event at Sunset Pool this evening, and a Geneva Whiz kid stars in "Annie."

Come out to Sunset pool tonight to meet some of Geneva's finest police officers and hang out with the River Road Crew from radio station 95.9. 

Or, see one of Geneva's Whiz Kids perform in a free show on the Pheasant Run Resort's main stage.

1. National Night Out is a program designed to bring neighborhood spirit and community-policing together in order to form a safer nation. There are three area events tonight you can attend to support this national program:

  • The Geneva Park District has events starting at 6 p.m. at . Admission is free to the pool for all Geneva residents, and the first 200 people will get a free hot dog. The Geneva Police Department is giving a free safety presentation and The River Road Crew from radio station 95.9 will also provide a variety of activities. 
  • The community of  at 6 p.m. at 129 W. National St. 
  • The Kane County Sherriff's Office will host National Night Out events from 6 to 9 p.m. at 37W755 IL Route 38, in St. Charles. There will be demonstrations, informational booths, child identification cards made to order, free refreshments and more. 

2. You can attend a  from 9 to 11 a.m. at . Crystal Life owner, Atala Toy, says dowsing is a science that anyone can learn. Dowsing has historically been used to find ground water and metals in the earth. It is also used to understand and interpret spiritual energies.

3. Please register by today for a at 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 10, at the Prairie Landing Golf Club in West Chicago. Brought to you by the , Hultgren will be giving a talk titled, "Federal Update".

This event costs $50—or $25 for Chamber members. Please call 630-232-6060 to register. 

4.  is hosting a Sacred Harp singing workshop at 7 p.m. at the church. For more information, please call 630-232-2350.

5. The 6 to 11 age group of  on the Pheasant Run Resort’s Main-stage at 7 p.m. 

In lieu of admission, the cast will be accepting donations of new toiletries for Mooseheart Child City and School. Items needed include toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, shaving cream, laundry detergent and dryer sheets. Fox Valley Reporatory will accept cash donations in lieu of admission to provide scholarships to local children who would like to participate in their programs.
