Hazardous Weather Advisory in Tri-Cities—Strong Wind and Maybe Storms Friday Night

The National Weather Service says to keep your nose in the air, just in case a storm is coming our way here in the Tri-Cities.

Geneva Patch columnist Jeff Ward advised me earlier today to put some rocks in my pockets if I go outside today.

It's been windy to say the least—and there's been an advisory out for that, and I apologize for not moving a story earlier. The National Weather Service for our neck of the woods is under a Wind Advisory and a Hazardous Weather Outlook.

The NWS is warning of winds up to 45 mph (hence the rocks) and is in effect until 9 p.m. Friday. But it also warns that more of the same is possible Saturday. (Sorry about that Easter Egg hunters!)

"There is a possibility for thunderstorms this afternoon and evening," the Hazardous Weather Outlook warns. It says the focal point is "mainly along and south of the Interstate 80 corridor," so we're probably pretty safe here in the Fox Valley, but it's best to keep your eyes open.

"Winds this strong can make driving difficult ... especially for high-profile vehicles. Use extra caution," the NWS says.
