Exterior Demolition Of Coultrap Begins

Exterior demolition of the Coultrap facility has begun on portions of the northeast corner.

Seen here is a video of Scott Nye, School District 304 director of facilities, talking about the schedule for the demolition process, as well as some photos taken Tuesday afternoon.

Alpine Demolition Services is handling the work, which will be completed in early August

A neighbor said the process has not interrupted his family's peace and quiet or caused much dust so far.

School Board members voted to demolish the structure this year. The property will be kept by School District 304 as open space, with a memorial planned to commemorate the history of the building.

The west side of the building dates back to 1923 and was the home of Geneva high school. It later became a junior high, a middle school and a grade school.
