Could Gas Station Become Doughnut Shop? Mmm, Yes!

The former gas station at Crissey and East State Street in Geneva could become a doughnut shop, developers said Wednesday.

Phil Brasse, asset manager of Cima Development, said Dunkin' Donuts is one of several doughnut shop owners that would be a good fit for that intersection, which sees more than 18,000 vehicles go by each day.

"I know they're (Dunkin' Donuts) one of the interested parties," Brasse said, "but I just don't know (if the company will make an offer."

Brasse said Dunkin' Donuts was "getting too many stores" and suggested that other doughnut stores might be as likely--or more likely--to purchase the property.

Cima Developers, Inc. is listing the parcel at 206 E. State St. at $900,000. It includes 27,000 square feet and the existing building, with 2,135 square feet.

The holding company, Angel Associates, LP, also owns the lot immediately to the south, at 19 Crissey, which would add more than 15,000 square feet.

On Wednesday, June 19, workers were removing the underground gasoline storage tanks from the gas station property.

A member of the State Fire Marshal's office was on hand to inspect the site cleanup. He said the removal probably would be concluded by Thursday. Soil samples are taken and analyzed, and if the samples pass muster of the Division of Petroleum and Chemical Safety, development can continue.

The locally owned Parent Petroleum is the land owner.

The company moved the Mobil station from the 206 E. State St.location to the former Fuller's location at 1166 E. State St. In late March or early April.
