Church Social: Summer Still Sizzles at Area Churches
Residents can chill out to chamber music, take in a summer flick, pig out at a pig roast—even haul big rigs to the county fairgrounds.
Even though the new school year is just around the corner, Geneva churches are still planning fun summer activities. Here’s just a sample:
will host a chamber music concert by faculty members from Wheaton Conservatory, including parish member Lee Joiner, at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at the church, Fourth and Franklin streets. will hold its last Tuesday at the Movies for the summer on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Randall 15 Theater in Batavia. Elementary-school-age children can watch an age-appropriate film with adult supervision supplied by the church, though parents are welcome, too. The admission price includes popcorn, drink and treat. is seeking a volunteer with access to a semi-tractor Aug 21-31 to move trailers of Barn Sale donations from the Campana Building at Route 31 and Fabyan Parkway to the Kane County Fairgrounds on Randall Road in St. Charles. All Barn Sale items must be out of the Campana Building by Aug. 31. To volunteer, call Bill Zander at 208-8535.
will hold its annual “PIGnic” pig roast starting at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at the church’s west campus, 3435 Keslinger Road. The church will provide the roast pig and beverages; participants are asked to bring a dish to share. The event will start with food, games and music.
