Christmas Tree Lightings Coming Up for Geneva Commons, Downtown Geneva

Holiday season and shopping is in full swing. Geneva Commons tip off with special events Friday, Nov. 23. Annual Christmas Walk is Dec. 7.

Two tree-lighting events are part of the upcoming festivities at Geneva Commons and in downtown Geneva.

Geneva Commons Shopping Center is preparing for the Holidays with special events and sales, beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, with the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Festivities. Santa will be present, as will carolers and free carriage rides. You can find the events for all stores here.

In downtown Geneva, the annual Christmas Walk and House Tours Dec. 7 and 8, sponsored by the Geneva Chamber of Commerce.

The traditional Christmas Walk begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 7, when Santa Lucia, the Swedish symbol of the season, and her attendants arrive by horse-drawn carriage to offer Swedish cookies to visitors. Santa makes his appearance to light the Great Tree on the courthouse lawn and officially opens his Gingerbread House at 6:30 pm. Enjoy an evening of holiday shopping and dining in historic Geneva and delight in chestnuts roasting, strolling carolers, freshly-made candy canes and hot cider. Your family has the opportunity to be the first to greet Santa this Geneva holiday season.

The House Tour takes place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. Five distinctive homes decorated for the holidays will open their doors to visitors for self-guided tours. A traditional tea at the Congregational Church in Geneva, and a keepsake decorating and entertaining ideas booklet are also included in the tour.
