5 Things You Should Know for Wednesday, June 15

Here are today's must-know items in Geneva.

1. A  charity event, raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, (MDA), begins at 11 a.m. at the . See some of the community's most influential members surrender themselves or arrive via MDA “paddy wagon.” To be released, they must raise bail by reaching out to their friends, family and business associates. Bail is set at $1,600, the cost of sending two children with MDA summer camp.

2. Hear  cover songs by musical great Neil Diamond. The show begins at 6:30 p.m. near  in the Geneva Commons. 

3. At 6:30 p.m. join Batavian Roger Breisch and in a philosophical discussion during a weekly conversation group called "Socrates Cafe." The group topics are based on inquiry and open to the public.

4. A rare astronomical event called a Total Lunar Eclipse, will rise over South America and set in Eastern Asia. This phenomena happens when the moon passes through the center line of the Earth's shadow. The last total lunar eclipse happened in July of 2000.

5. Stories in the Park will take place at from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. in Bennett Park, located off Bennett Street and Woodward Avenue. Children ages 2 to 5 and a parent or guardian, will enjoy stories, games, and other nature themed activities. This is a free event.
