5 Things You Should Know for Thursday, June 16

An important community public-information meeting will take place in Geneva today.

1. A public meeting and open house for the "Southeast Master Plan” will look at future land use alternatives for land generally south of Route 38, north of Fabyan Parkway, west of the County Line, and east of Kirk Road. The event will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Elfstrom/Cougars Stadium located on Kirk Road. 

2. A is courtesy of the Geneva Park District. The movie Cars will be shown, beginning at dusk, on Thursday, June 16, at Moore Park, on Geneva Drive on Geneva’s East Side. Think of it as drive-in without the car, but with room to roam and to spread out. 

3.  The Kane County Genealogical Society will explore Irish heritage from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the .  Join speaker Gary Shea and learn about emigration and how it has impacted Irish family history. Opportunities to review various research and emigration resources will be shared as time allows.

4. Enjoy freshly shucked oysters harvested from the east and west coasts at  from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Seafood lovers can indulge themselves in a rare treat of fresh coastal cuisine served over ice with lemon and a mignonette sauce. 

5. . Musical act Sha Na Na brings its  to the  at 8 p.m. The group will perform classic fan favorites from Woodstock, the movie Grease, and the Sha Na Na television show. This is an all ages event.
