CDC new report shows our state of Illinois has the lowest Colorectal Cancer Screening rate and Highest incidence rate.

              1) Illinois among states with lowest screening rates.

              2) Illinois among States with highest incidence rate .

Illinois screening rate is far below Michigan and Minnesota by approx. 15%

Even Wisconsin screening rate is higher by approx. 10%

Missouri screening rate is higher by approx. 5%.

The word Approx.is used as CDC has lumped the data into 4 categories for states in the chart of United States.

Our state of Illinois falls into worst category--due to LOWER SCREENING RATES.

I looked up the Incidence rate for Colorectal(Colon-Rectum) Cancer for Kane County for 2004-2008.

Kane County:      458 Male      488 Female

Dupage County:  1037 Male    964 Female

McHenry county:  313 Male     338 Female

Will County:         733 Male     666 Female

Cook County:      6923 Male    7013 Female

Kendall County:    78 Male         82 Female

Cook County is the worst in Incidence rate and Kendall County is the best.

Rest fall in the middle--very close to each other.

PLEASE PASS THIS ON to people over 30 years of age--as Incidence of Colrectal Cancer starts in 20-34 age group also.It is 1.1% in 20-34 group, rising to 4.0% in 35-44 years age group.  45-54 group has 13.4% incidence rate and 55-65 has 20.4%,65-74 has 24%. 75-84 has 25% and over 85 has 12% incidence rate. Under 20-incidence rate is 0.1%.

                 Why are we so concerned?
