Quad City Bandits Steal 5-1 Win From Cougars, But Another Nice Performance by Perez

5/24, Kane County 1, Quad City 5

Leondy Perez pitched another great game and had nothing to show for it. Tuesday night he went seven innings and gave up two hits and one run. The Cougars would lose the game 5-1 after the Quad City River Bandits scored four times off of Jon Keck in the eighth and the ninth.

Perez got into some trouble in the game but didn't have his best stuff but really did a nice job of keeping the Cougars in the game. He would get three inning ending double plays, and in his last inning strike out the final two men he faced with the bases loaded.

Tonight the Cougars offense left their bats in Beloit or something. As they had three hits against one of the best pitchers in the league. Kevin Siegrist went seven innings and gave up two hits and one unearned run. The one thing that kept the Cougare in the game was the three walks he gave up, but they would leave five men on base while he was on the mound.

The Cougars offense was the fifth inning, when they scored their only run of the game without a hit in the inning. Lane Adams led it off with a walk, then stole second and went to third on an errant throw. One out later, Travis Jones grounded one up the middle for the second out, but it would drive home Adams for the first run of the game.

Kane County did have some chances in the game. In the second inning, Ryan Stovall led it off with a single to left. Cheslor Cuthbert then reached on a fielding error by the short stop. After that a ground out, a pop out and a strike out would end the inning. In the sxith inning the Cougars would leave the bases loaded. With two outs, Jake Kuebler singled to left and went to second on a wild pitch. Stovall walked. Cuthbert then bounced one to second, the second baseman tried to get Stovall at second but couldn't beat him to the base. Bases loaded with two outs. Adams would hit one back to the mound and the Bandits would get Kuebler at the plate to end the inning.

Quad City scored their first run of the game in the sixth inning off of Perez. Greg Garcia led it off with a double to left center. One out later, Cody Stanley lined one off of Kuebler's glvoe at first and into right that would score Garcia. Chris Edmondson then grounded one towards the middle that went just under the glove of Angel Franco for an error. Jonathan Rodriguez would then walk to load the bases. Perez then would strike out the next two hitters to end the inning.

One more run for the Bandits in the seventh inning. Virgil Hill led off with a bunt single to second, then stole second. Two outs later, Nick Longmire would give the Bandits the lead with a double down the right field line to score Hill. The dagger came in the eighth inning for the Bandits when they scored three runs. With one out, Rodriguez, Victor Sanchez and Starlin Rodriguez all singled. One out later, Gil tripled to left center to clear the bases. Keck would strand Hill at third with a strike out to end the inning.
