On Monday Night, Peoria Continues to Have Its Way with Cougars, This Time 4-0

For the first time this year the Kane County Cougars got shutout.

They fell again to the Peoria Chiefs, this time 4-0 in the finale of the series. Having lost 14 out of their last 16 games, the Cougars now have a record of 9-23.

If only the offense could wake up. The pitching has been there, especially the starting pitching with has had a 1.83 era in the last ten games. Today Leonel Santiago pitched a great game, going seven innings, giving up six hits and two runs. The main problem is that today, the Cougars only got two hits.

The sad part is that they got six walks, and never had a runner get past second base. Leaving six men on base in the game. They hit into one double play and Lane Adams was picked off first once. Santiago went in and out of trouble in the first two innings then settled down a bit before giving up his first run in the sixth.

Matt Szczur started things off in the sixth with a single then was bunted to second. One out later, Richard Jones doubled to center to score Szczur. The other run against Santiago came in the seventh inning. Smaily Borges led things off with a walk. Arismendy Alcantara singled to right. D.J. Fitzgerald then bunted them both into scoring position. Anthony Giansanti grouonded to third, scoring Borge

Chaz Byrne came in for the eighth and he would get one out and give up two runs. Pierre LePage started things off with a walk, then stole second. Rubi Silva doubled to left to score LePage. One out later, Micah Gibbs doubled to center to score Silva.
