Richmond 2012: Track Records Matter in 25th Senate Republican Primary

Track Records Matter in 25th Senate Republican Primary

Going into the final days of this primary election, voters need to look at track records. The best way to predict how someone will represent you in the future is to look at how they conducted themselves in the past.

During this campaign in the 25th Senate District for the Republican nomination you have heard from all the candidates. We are all businessmen. We have all created jobs, some a few more than others. We all understand the top issues that Illinois faces: pensions, business climate jJobs), and taxes. And for the most part we all have a particular way of providing a solution for these issues. But what sets us all apart are our track records.

I, , am the only real candidate in this primary race with a proven track record of respecting taxpayers' money. I have had the pleasure of serving as Blackberry Township supervisor in Kane County for the last three years. For those three years, Blackberry Township has had balanced budgets, no debt and money in the bank.  But, as supervisor, the thing I am most proud of is that Blackberry Township has lowered the property tax levy from the maximum three years in a row. That means when residents pay their property taxes, we have kept a few more dollars in their pockets.

My opponents cannot say the same for their track records. Throughout the campaign they have said one thing, but their past track record shows the opposite.

We need someone in Springfield that has a track record of cutting spending and lowing taxes. We need leadership that will serve our needs in the 25th District.

The only way to provide a solution to our poor business climate in Illinois is to get our fiscal house in order. That means operating a balanced budget, keeping taxes and costs low, and eliminating debt. With an environment like that businesses can flourish.

I have operated an environment like that in Blackberry Township, and we continue to flourish. We do not spend money just because we have it and we do not take more just because we can.

We live within our means, and that is exactly what Springfield needs to do.

So when you go to the polls on Tuesday, I ask you to vote for the candidate with a proven track record of respecting taxpayers’ money.

I ask that you vote for Dave Richmond.
