Ted Bowman, Dala Horse Carver at Cottages of the Woods, Nov 16/17th

Ted Bowman, Dala Horse carver will be one of many Scandinavian artists showcasing their artistic skills and selling their art at Cottages of the Woods Holiday Sale November 16 & 17th at Good Templar Park, 528 Eastside Dr, Geneva, IL. 10am-5pm. All eight of Ted's great grandparents were born and lived in Sweden. He began carving Dala horses over twenty-five years ago. His horses range in size from tiny one inch high models to some weighing over fifteen pounds. The horses are sent to some Wisconsin and Minnesota Scandinavian rosemalers to complete so that each horse is distinctly different. His unique contribution to the tradition is the "Dala" Rocker, a rocking horse, carved and assembled from eleven pieces of pine.
