Tri-Cities Gas Guide: Cheapest Price $3.65 at Sam's Club

The upward trend in gasoline reversed itself a bit this week, with the national average price dipping 2.1 cents a gallon from a week ago. Still, prices are 11.9 cents a gallon higher than a month ago.

The Costco on Randall Road near Oak Street in St. Charles and the Sam’s Club at Randall Road and Fabyan Parkway in Batavia had the cheapest gas prices in the Tri-Cities on Wednesday night, according to Illinois Gas Prices.

AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report showed that nationally, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline on late Wednesday was $3.706 a gallon, up from $3.703 a day earlier, but down from $3.727 a week ago. The national average of a gallon of regular gas a month ago was $3.587, but was $3.805 a year ago. The highest recorded average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was $4.114 on July 17, 2008.

thanks for the analysis which proves what I am very unhappy about. Most of the local prices around the tri-cities are $3.85-3.95, well above the national average. Further, while kane county gas pricing is traditionally lower than dupage, we have more recently been higher than them. WHY?

I assume one must have a sam's card-costco card to purchase gas at those places, so it may not be the cheapest avaiable to all.
