Fast Casual's Top 100 ranks the restaurant-industry segment's best brands based on innovation, sales and unit growth, marketing successes, and food quality. The Top 100 was determined by a panel that ranked each brand according to a scale of one to 100. The rankings were averaged based on total overall scores.

“It’s an honor to be ranked so high,” said Ed Rensi, co-founder of Tom & Eddie’s, “especially because Tom & Eddie’s is relatively new to the scene.

Fast Casual.com writer Valerie Killifer wrote, “To research their core menu item, they (co-founders Ed Rensi and Tom Dentice) visited more than 100 burger concepts, eating their way through menu and concept development."

The two also spent eight weeks using the kitchen at the College of DuPage Culinary Arts Center, in Glen Ellyn as their own private dining room, pulling people off the street to sample the fare and working, in total, 640 hours serving meals. Overall, the pair served 1,200 entrées and 3,300 menu items.

"We’ve put a lot of detail into every essence of the restaurant," Rensi said.

I think it's a collective noun, meaning both names make up the company to make one singular entity, so "receives" would be OK. Another style thing.

While I am glad to see business concepts new to the scene come along, I must question the validity of calling Tom&Eddies a "New Fast Food Concept"! As some may be aware, there are other "premium burger" places in place now that ,it seems, are into the $10.00 burger mentality, that are directly competing with them! Having gone to three such places,Red Robin, Smash Burger,And Tom&Eddies,it appears that all are trying to "re invent the Fuddruckers concept, all over again! This, now I believe ,defunct company, was trying to purvey a product that was "superior "to the regular burger, and was fairly successful, except for one fault, people could usually find a pretty good burger at their friendly neighborhood pub, or restaurant, cheaper, and usually,as good! I wish them luck, as most people have a pretty good idea of what a burger should taste like, and as such, will remain loyal to that concept! As for myself, their product, while good, was no more inspiring than any other grilled burger I have had, and on a scale of 10, would only give a 5 or 6! Again, everyone has an idea of what the perfect burger is, and my taste requires broiling over a fire,(Portillo's,Rookies, and even BurgerKing) and in the end, that is my choice! Again, good luck to them!
