Open House at Cadence Fitness & Health Center — May 4

The new Cadence Fitness & Health Center, 296 Randall Road, Geneva (formerly Delnor Health & Wellness Center) will be hosting an Open House from 9 a.m. to noon. The day will focus on exercise, nutrition and healthy lifestyle habits, is open to the community and center members and includes a variety of screenings such as grip, strength and posture. There will be healthy heart information, sun safety tips and fitness demonstrations. Discover your level of fitness with simple stretch/reach and BMI tests. Afterward, relax and unwind with a chair massage.

Plant Sales — May 4

Plant sales return to the corner of 5th and State! Every Saturday in May and June, Scentimental Gardens, 428 W. State St., Geneva has partnered with non-profit WeGrow Dreams Greenhouse to offer annuals, hanging baskets, herbs, and more. Great Mother's Day presents. All sales benefit WGD, which provides vocational training, workskills, and employment for people with disabilities.

987 S. Randall Road, Geneva, will be part of this wearable-art fashion show at 7:30 p.m. at Batavia Fine Arts Centre. Batavia High School students create and model designs out of anything, but fabric and the selected theme for the show is DISASTERS. Colour Line Hair Studio will provide fashion looks to complement the student designs. Proceeds will benefit a visual arts student scholarship as well as the Studio Visual Arts Boosters. Ozzie’s Home Run and Walk 5K — May 18

The Kane County Cougars organization will host the second annual Ozzie’s Home Runand Walk 5K at 8 a.m. Registration is now open for the event through kccougars.comand racetime.info. Registration is $25 for adults and $12 for children ages 5 through 12. A portion of race proceeds will be donated to Ozzie’s Outreach, the Cougars’ charitable arm that gives back to various causes each year in the community.

Gardenology — May 18

Gardenology Festival will be held rain or shine between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. The event will take place in downtown Geneva. Gardenology advisers and vendors will bring their best ideas and garden related products to jump-start your gardening season. Experts in every horticulture field including farming, landscape design, weavers, local nurseries, and more will be on hand to answer your questions. Topics include herbs, flowers, vegetables, heirloom plants and perennials. Learn about attracting birds and butterflies, wildlife control, composting, organic fertilizers and more. 13th Annual Multisport Madness Triathlon Team Youth Triathlon — May 26

a member of Cadence Health, is hosting this race that is designed for the beginner athlete looking to tackle his or her first triathlon to the experienced triathlete. The race is split into three divisions:

  • Juniors (6- to 10-year-olds) — 125-meter swim, 2-mile bike, .5-mile run;
  • Seniors (11- to 16-year-olds) — 125-meter swim, 5-mile bike, 1-mile run
  • Elite (maximum age 16, previous sprint distance experience required) — 375-meter swim, 6.2-mile bike, 1.55-mile run.

The Junior Race will begin at 7 a.m. THe Senior Race will follow, then the Elites. Registration can be done online at register.itsracetime.com/register/?event=17255.
