Roger Breisch Set to Leave Batavia Chamber; Search Is On For Replacement

The 10-year executive director of the Chamber of Commerce will be tough to replace, but the decision will come soon. Applications for the post must be received by Wednesday, Jan. 15.

Longtime Batavia Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Roger Breisch is leaving to find the next chapter in his life, and the Batavia Chamber is working quickly to find his replacement.

Applications for the executive director post must be received by Wednesday, Jan. 15. The complete job description is available on the Chamber's website: www.bataviachamber.org

Breisch announced in December that he would be leaving the post he'd held for almost 10 years. According to an article in the Kane County Chronicle, Breisch is resigning to simply find the next chapter in his life and to give the chamber a chance to find new talent.

The resignation is effective Jan. 31.

"It's just time," he told the Chronicle.

The Chamber of Commerce has made many strides under Breisch's leadership, including membership increases and a new website. Through efforts by the city, downtown Batavia is blossoming under the Downtown Streetscape Project, and in the past 10 years, Randall Road businesses have grown dramatically. In 2009, the city of Batavia was named among Money Magazine's top 100 places to live — not because of the Chamber of Commerce efforts per se, but the community's general economic good health was part of the decision-making.

"It is with great sadness that MainStreet bids a fond farewell to Roger Breisch who has decided to leave his position as the executive director of the Batavia Chamber of Commerce. We are very excited to see what new direction life will take him now," said a note in a Batavia MainStreet email Thursday. "Roger has been a great partner, friend and mentor to MainStreet and although he will be missed, we know he will not be far!"
