With a new chef at the helm and renovations wrapping up at a Geneva restaurant that is considered one of the best for fine dining in the suburbs, Niche is expected to re-open on April 1, according to Crain's Chicago Business.
The new chef Chris Ayukawa, 35, who comes to Niche from Sugar Toad at the Hotel Arista in Naperville, is not planning any major changes to the menu and will keep "Niche's strong commitment to seafood" while bringing in more game and "original preparation, such as bread baked from scratch every day," according to the article. Ayukawa is also a former sous chef at Niche, according to Niche's website.
Niche. 14 S. Third St., closed on March 23 to undergo renovations. Remodeling has been underway since with upgrades including a new and bigger bar top and other interior renovations, according to Niche's Facebook page. The Crain's article reports the renovations will include more seating in the lounge area and the kitchen will remain open until midnight to attract a younger crowd.

Niche originally opened in 2006 with a goal of creating "a fine dining experience that isn’t stuffy, but allows our entire staff to share our love of good wine and satisfying, fresh, delicious food in a warm atmosphere," according to Niche's website.
Niche is known for its extensive wine list and its collection was awarded the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator in 2010 and 2011, according to Niche's website.
