Multi-State Lincoln Highway Buy-Way Yard Sale Ready This Weekend

Geneva isn't an official participator, but it is having sidewalk sales this weekend.

The Buy-Way is back this year, with yard sales stretching across West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Iowa.

In Illinois, heavy participation begins in DeKalb and heads west through Geneva, which coincidentally there will be citywide this weekend.

"Buy-Way" highlights in Illinois include citywide sales in Fulton and Franklin Grove and Rochelle businesses. Additionally, the DeKalb Area Women’s Center on 1021 State St. in DeKalb will be hosting sales in its parking lot, with an indoor rain location.

Traveling westward, there will be sales in DeKalb, Malta, Rochelle, Ashton, Franklin Grove, Dixon Morrison and Fulton.  Numerous businesses in Rochelle will participate.

Firefighters in Franklin Grove organized than 50 yard sales on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in conjunction with the Summer Harvest Festival. The Fulton Chamber of Commerce hosts an impressive 74 yard sales for Friday and Saturday.

The sponsor of the yard sales, the Lincoln Highway Association, is a charitable organization open to all and it can trace its roots back to the original organizers of the Lincoln Highway. The Lincoln Highway Buy-Way began in Ohio and spread to neighboring states and now spans hundreds of miles across five states.  The Lincoln Highway Buy-Way is an annual event, the first weekend of August.
