Happy 2nd Birthday, Geneva Patch!

Hard to believe we've been here for two years now—and what a grand, wild ride it's been.

Happy second birthday, Geneva Patch!

It's been more than two years now since we first ran the "" you see attached to this article. And to paraphrase the Grateful Dead, what a long, strange and incredibly fun trip it's been.

My little role started with a back in 2010, although I believe we had a "soft launch" up and running sooner than that first game day. , Geneva Patch began on Aug. 27, 2010, but since then, for one reason or another, I've been celebrating .

We have made astonishing progress over the past year. We're adding new tools to our tool kit all the time, we're finding new ways to advance the conversation with social media, we're learning best practices and sharing ideas and developing new kinds of content and ways to engage.

But as much as things have changed over the past two years, much has stayed the same since we began this grand experiment. Our commitment is Geneva first, and our promise is news, information and conversation with a hometown point of view.

On a personal note, our oldest daughter last year and is now a freshman at . Our youngest is a sophomore at , playing on Friday nights and working diligently on her homework (see Welcome Video) during the week. is still at . :)

Our family is happy and healthy, and I'm privileged to work in the community where I was born and raised. , and I love my job, and life is good.

Patch has become something of a national phenomenon, and it's been fun to play a small part in that, as well. One of the many things I like about Patch and our parent company, Aol, is that we continue to innovate, push the envelope and learn new ways to make the Internet work on a hyper-local level.

You can expect more innovation, more improvements, more Geneva news and views, more ways to connect and a superior user exerience as we move forward. The next year will be another grand adventure, and I'll probably be just as astonished as you are when I see the progress of the next 365 days.

Thank you for joining me on this wonderful, wild ride.
