Geneva Hardware Closes Its Doors

With no announcement except for a sign in the window, Geneva Hardware closes Aug. 1.

Geneva Hardware's short-lived move to the former Dominick's location in St. Charles ended Monday when the store closed its doors.

A sign in the window says simply, "Thank you for your support. We regret to inform you that our store is closed. For more information, call 630-232-2245 and leave a message."

The phone message says Geneva Hardware will try to complete any outstanding screen repairs, sharpening or special orders.

The hardware store moved from the strip mall at 617 W. State St. to its new location in St. Charles in March.

Mike Dickson, owner of Geneva Hardware, said in February that some unresolved issues regarding the lease and space constraints were the reasons for the move to the former Dominick’s store.

The 617 W. State St. property remains vacant, as well. Property owner Bill Rosenfelder said in February that he was working on an agreement that might bring an Ace Hardware store to that location.
