Chicago Turtle Factory Opens in Downtown St. Charles

Family business features all kinds of chocolate, other sweets, and, oh yes, gourmet popcorn, too!

Geneva might still be the suburbs' Mecca for sweets, but St. Charles is making some headway with the Dec. 6 opening of Chicago Turtle Factory at 10 S. Riverside Ave. — that’s south of the Starbucks and in the Arcada Theatre building.

Gibson Thrikki is the proprietor of the family business — his brother Joby was working Tuesday evening when St. Charles Patch stopped buy to purchase some turtles for a birthday.

Joby was eager to help customers stopping in on Tuesday — polite, professional and knowledgable about the assorted candies. The turtles — large enough that they easily can cover the palm of an adult hand — are coated in Belgian milk chocolate.

Then there are the chocolate-covered raisins. If you ever tried Nestle’s Raisinets at the movie theater, consider these a step up — Chicago Turtle Factory’s chocolate-covered raisins dwarf the competition in size and in taste.

But there are far more chocolate-covered confections than could be listed here, not to mention the array of other non-chocolate candies.

Then there’s the popcorn — cheese popcorn, carmel, Chicago-style mix, strawberry, and chocolate — the walls are lined with small and large tubs of the tasty treat.

And it’s all service with a smile.

Chicago Turtle Factory, 10 S. Riverside Ave., is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., weekdays and weekends, and has a Chicago Turtle Factory page on Facebook, too.
