St. Peter Cross Country Off To A Fun Start

2012 will be a tough act to follow, but the 2013 St. Peter Rocket Cross Country team is at it again and three weeks into the season is ready for the challenge. In 2012, the St. Peter Girls placed 3rd at the IESA Class A State Championship Meet and placed in the top 10 at two major invitationals. The boys finished 12th at state and the team won the overall Tri County Conference title in both the 5/6th and 7/8th grade divisions. This year’s team is hard at work preparing for the upcoming season, but don’t tell them that cross country is all work and no play. The 2013 Rockets just happened to make an appearance at Forever Yogurt in St. Charles two weeks ago (yes they did run there) and were sighted at Johnson’s Mound Forest Preserve drinking root beer floats and spraying water at each other during a warm and humid Friday afternoon. Never mind the fact that they had just completed a grueling hill workout on one of largest hills in Kane County.

The St. Peter boys and girls open their season on September 10 at the Rosary/Marmion Invitational at Marmion Academy in Aurora. From there they travel to Leroy Oaks Forest Preserve on September 17 to kick off their conference season and then down to Shorewood, IL for the famous 50 team Troy Invitational.

2013 is sure to be an exciting and competitive season for St. Peter Cross Country but this year’s team is determined to play just as hard as they work! However the competition best not let their guard down on the race course as the Rocket Red run to win!
