St. Peter Places Three Teams In Top 20 At 52 Team Troy Invitational, Girls Finish 8th

St. Peter Cross Country Finishes Strong At 52 Team Troy Invitational

Saturday was another huge victory for St. Peter Cross Country as they competed against middle school teams outnumbering them 4:1 or more. Three of the four teams St. Peter entered finished in the top 20 of the 52 team field with the highlight being the 8th grade girls 8th place team finish.

Led by perennial front runners Elizabeth Allon and Katy Huber in 32nd and 33rd place, the St. Peter girls placed eigth by one point to seventh place Buffalo Grove Cooper. 5th grader Erika Martin (69th) and 8th graders MaryGrace Phelan (74th) and Delaney Shanahan (76th) worked together to complete St. Peter's scoring in the 2 mile race.

Charlie Zimmer ran a personal best of 11:08 for 2 miles to finish in 6th place in the boys 8th grade race. His teammates also ran personal bests to give the team a respectable 17th place finish.

7th graders Anna Burke and Therese Hein led the 7th grade girls team to a 17th place finish, while the boys 7th grade team led by 6th graders Will Klaus and David Peterson came in 25th. Both the boys and girls St. Peter 7th grade teams consisted of many 5th and 6th grade runners.

The St. Peter Rocket Runners look to win another conference meet on Thursday at Leroy Oaks Forest Preserve in St. Charles.
