St. Peter Girls Win In Hampshire

Led by first year runner Maddie Bryan, the 7/8th grade girls dominate their race.

In the only Tri-County Conference meet where boys and girls are scored separately, the St. Peter 7th and 8th grade girls won their race by a wide margin beating non-conference guest team Cambridge Lakes Charter School by a score of 27-57 on Wednesday evening. 8th grader Maddie Bryan in her first year of running cross country won the 1.8 mile girls race in a time of 12:43. 7th grader Therese Hein finished in 2nd behind Bryan in a time of 12:59. Jessica Filardi, Abageal Phelan and Danielle Filardi rounded out the scoring for the St. Peter girls.

Also in action were the 5th and 6th grade boys who placed 3rd behind winner Cambridge Lakes and perennial conference leader St. Mary Sycamore. 6th grader Aaron Staehely crossed the finish line first for the St. Peter Rockets in 8th place with a time of 10:21 for the 1.5 mile race.

Although they didn't have enough runners for a team score, the 5/6th grade girls all finished in the top 10 of their race, with 6th grader Megan Cahill placing 2nd in 10:49 followed by 5th grader Isabelle Koester and 6th grader Emma Spitzig finishing in 8th and 9th place.
