St. Peter Girls Run Away With Win At Peck Farm Park

St. Peter 8th Grade Girls Defeat Wheaton Franklin, Geneva Middle School South

St. Peter may be a small school, but their 8th grade girls team ran big on Tuesday, beating 3rd place cross town rival Geneva Middle School South and 2nd place Wheaton Franklin on Tuesday at Peck Farm Park. Led by top runners Elizabeth Allon and Katy Huber in 3rd and 4th place, the race was decided by Rachel Tork, St. Peter's 5th runner. She beat Franklin's 5th runner by 3 seconds, sealing the victory for St. Peter.

Following 2nd place finisher Caroline Zimmer (6th grade) the St. Peter 6/7th grade girls placed 2nd to powerhouse Wheaton Franklin while the Geneva runners finished 3rd. The 6/7th St. Peter boys all ran season personal bests but were outmatched by their rival schools placing 3rd.

IESA All State runner Charlie Zimmer won the 8th grade boys race by a split second after a gut wrenching sprint to the finish with a Wheaton runner. St. Peter did not enter enough 8th grade boys for a team score.
