St. Peter Cross Country Team Wins Coyote Invitational

Late Season Win For St. Peter Cross Country.

In a late-season contest last Tuesday, the St. Peter Cross Country team swept the 11-team field at the Coyote Invitational hosted by Cambridge Lakes Charter School in Pingree Grove.

In the 5/6th grade 1.5 mile race the Rockets beat 2nd place Zion Lutheran by a score of 52-87. Winning his 5th race this season, 6th grader Sam McEnery won the boys division in 9:44 while 5th grader Megan Cahill notched her first win of the season in the girls division with a time of 10:46.

The 7th and 8th grade St. Peter team won their 1.5 mile race with a near perfect score of 25 points beating 2nd place conference rival St. Catherine with 109 points.  After only three days of rest after his record breaking 7th place finish at the IESA State Meet, 8th grader Jon Young led the boys race to the finish in another St. Peter record time of 8:52.  Despite spending part of her day at the hospital on Sunday after finishing 21st at the IESA State Meet Saturday, 8th grader Maria Tavierne still managed to win the girls division with a time of 9:50.

St. Peter Cross Country will finish its successful season on Thursday while attempting to defend their conference crown at the Tri-County Conference Championship meet at Randall Oaks Park in West Dundee.
