St. Peter Cross Country Stays Tough On The Hills Of Randall Oaks, Wins Third Conference Meet

St. Peter Cross Country Wins Third Conference Meet of the Season at Randall Oaks PArk in West Dundee.

In spite of the daunting hills of Randall Oaks Park in West Dundee, the St. Peter Rockets Cross Country team remained at the top of the standings in the Tri-County Conference.

On Wednesday they topped 2nd place St. Catherine of West Dundee on their home course in both the 5/6th grade and 7/8th grade races.

The 5/6th grade 1.5 mile girls race was won by St. Peter runner Megan Cahill, a 5th grader notching her first win of the season in a time of 11:03. Following her in close succession was Anna Burke in 2nd and Caroline Zimmer in 3rd place.

Sam McEnery, a perennial winner for St. Peter won the 5/6th grade 1.5 mile boys race in a time of 9:46.  David Peterson followed with a 4th place finish being edged out by runners from St. Mary of Sycamore and St. Catherine.

The familiar trio of Maria Tavierne, Elizabeth Allon and Katy Huber took 1st through 3rd in the 7/8th grade 2 mile girls race beating all but 6 of the boys in the same race.  Their next female opponent was over 30 seconds in trail.

Not to be outdone, Jon Young, Charlie Zimmer and Matthew Martin finished one, two and three in the 7/8th grade 2 mile boys race, continuing their domination of the event in the conference.

The Rocket Runners' next challenge is the 35 team Fred Martin Invitational on Saturday at Melas Park in Arlington Heights.  Next week brings a meet on Thursday against the challenging Batavia Rotolo Middle School team and then on to the IESA (Illinois Elementary School Association) Sectional Meet in Fox River Grove on Saturday.
