St. Mary Outruns St. Peter Cross Country At Randall Oaks

St. Peter 5/6th grade cross country second behind St. Mary of Sycamore

Despite their best efforts and season personal bests, the St. Peter 5/6th grade cross country team placed second to the talented St. Mary of Sycamore team by a score of 39-25 Wednesday evening at Randall Oaks Park in West Dundee. St. Mary runners finished 1st - 3rd and proved too much to overcome by the Rocket runners. 6th grader Will Klaus of St. Peter placed 4th, only 13 seconds behind St. Mary's first finisher, followed by 6th grade teammate David Peterson 7 seconds later. 6th grader Caroline Zimmer and 5th grader Erika Martin took the top 2 girls positions. 5th grader Isabelle Koester and 6th grader Emma Spitzig had noteable personal best times in spite of the tough and hilly course.

The 7/8th grade team continued their winning ways defeating 2nd place guest team St. Peter & Paul of Cary by a score of 24-74. 8th graders Charlie Zimmer and Henry Feldhaus led the way for the boys while Elizabeth Allon and Katy Huber were St. Peter's first girls to cross the finish. Delaney Shanahan placed third only 12 seconds behind Huber.

The St. Peter runners take their team to Arlington Heights for the 30 team Fred Martin Invitational on Saturday where they hope to claim one of the top 3 spots. Both girls teams placed 4th in the event in 2011.
