St. Charles Police Campaign Nets 3 DUI Arrests, 47 Citations

Partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation to curb fatalities also saw 47 citations, 12 warnings issued.

A two-week traffic safety campaign by St. Charles police saw officers make three driving under the influence arrests, and issue 27 citations for safety belts, 15 citations for speeding, and five citations for other violations, the police department said in a release.

In addition to the state citations issued, officers also issued 12 warnings for various violations.

According to the release, the completed on Sept. 3 a two-week enforcement period in connection with a traffic safety campaign done in cooperation with, and funded by, the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The initiative is part of a statewide program to reduce the number of traffic fatalities, the release states. It also asks drivers, “Please drive carefully and help us in removing impaired drivers from our streets!”
