Italian Machine Builder Relocating to Geneva, IL, to 'Earn Market Share' in America

Headquartered in Geneva, IL, the company was established to provide sales development and support, service and parts in North America for waterjet cutting systems produced by Waterjet Corporation s.r.l. of Monza, Italy.

Maybe Geneva, IL, can be the catalyst for industrial investment in Illinois.

An Italian company announced Wednesday in the Wall Street Journal and other media that it has moved to Geneva as part of a decision "to directly invest in the North America market."

Although the company is bringing many of its own workers, it could mean additional jobs available for people in the Tri-Cities area. Certainly, it will contribute to the local tax base, and the interest in the area is a positive indicator for industrial parks in Geneva, Batavia and St. Charles.

Waterjet USA LLC is a newly-established sales, service and parts organization, supporting users of the high precision 2- to 6-axis cutting machines from Waterjet Corporation s.r.l. of Monza, Italy, according to a Newswire press release.

Annually, the company produces more than 130 machines. It was founded in 1991 and it has shipped more than 1,300 systems worldwide since then.

The organization was jointly announced by Massimo Russo, president of Waterjet Corporation s.r.l, and Massimo Denipoti, president of Waterjet USA LLC.

"We made the decision to directly invest in the North America market," Russo said, "as a logical next step to earlier successes here utilizing importers."

Waterjet Corporation is a leading Italian machine builder, specializing in 2D and 3D cutting systems, serving the metal fabrication and machining industry, the marble, stone and glass industries, as well as several other sectors.

"This is an opportunity to earn market share," Denipoti said. "When you consider the wide product range and exceptional quality that Waterjet Corporation offers — from small to very large table sizes, machines from 2 to 6 axes, and some very creative custom solutions. The number of companies in the U.S. market that can offer similar solutions is very limited."

For several years, Waterjet Corporation has been building complete cutting systems for the North America market, sold exclusively to and through MC Machinery, a Mitsubishi-owned machine tool importer and distributorship, based in Wood Dale, IL. Earlier, Waterjet Corporation's products were imported into the US through a Canadian importer and distributor.

Waterjet Corporation is no stranger to the United States, working closely for many years with its supplier partner KMT of Baxter Springs, KS. Waterjet Corporation uses, almost exclusively, the high-pressure intensifier technology for which KMT has become known worldwide.

The mission of Waterjet USA is to establish a strong sales and service group. "A dozen dealers are now active in the Midwest and we are working with several others to bring product knowledge and exposure closer to potential users in every state of the country," Denipoti said.

"Factory service personnel are being relocated to Geneva, IL to consolidate our local installation team and post-sales people. In addition, we'll be within easy reach of the service crew at KMT Waterjet. Near-term plans include beefing up management and opening a showroom for application development and customer product demonstrations."
