Did You Get Your NEW Yellow Garbage Stickers Yet?
Reminders: (1) The old pink stickers have expired, so make sure you get new yellow ones; (2) collection pushed back a day for the Fourth of July.
Geneva's new five-year waste-disposal contract with Advanced Disposal officially started July 1, so you probably should get those yellow garbage stickers today (Wednesday, July 3), if you haven't done so already.
Garbage collection is delayed a day, of course, because of the Independence Day holiday. But if you don't want to be running around on the Fourth of July searching for new garbage stickers, today's the day to get that done.
Typically, the East Side and near West Side garbage collection is Thursday, and the far West Side collection is Friday. This week, it's Friday, July 5, for the East Side and near West Side and Saturday, July 6, for the far West Side.
The city is offering a chance to trade in your old, pink stickers for new, yellow ones at any time during the month of July.
A sticker-for-sticker exchange will be available to residents who have unused pink city of Geneva waste stickers with a contract expiration date of 6/30/2013.
Residents may exchange waste sticker at City Hall from Monday, July 1, until Wednesday, July 31. City Hall is located at 22 S. First Street, and hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. (City offices are closed on Thursday, July 4.)
Stickers must be presented in an "un-used" state, with backing still intact.
This week is your first chance to use your new recycling containers. You should have been delivered one free of charge by now. If you haven't, contact Advanced Disposal at 630-587-8282.
You can keep your old blue bins or you can place them in the recycling cart or place a sign on them for the hauler to take.
