Geneva High School's Much Anticipated Lip Dub This Friday

Following in the footsteps of many other high schools, but it won't be easy

is joining the growing number of high schools in creating a school-wide lip dub video. Essentially, a lip dub consists of a camera taking a tour throughout the high school while showing students lip synching and dancing to a song. With technology—and creativity—constantly evolving, lip dubs are becoming increasingly commonplace for high schools.

Geneva was particularly inspired by Magnolia High School's Firework lip dub. The Texas high school created a theme in which a new student is entering the school and all of the students are showing him around the school, making him feel welcomed.

The lip dub will occur after the half day on Nov. 11. There are reportedly more than 40 clubs and sports teams that will have designated areas throughout the school. Geneva students and faculty will be lip synching and dancing to the '80s hit Footloose.

By no means will the video be easy to make. The lip dub is supposed to be one long shot from beginning to end. Considering that means every participant—hundreds, perhaps more—has to perform their part without error, that could very well be the hardest thing the students will do on the laid back half day.

No matter how it turns out, the biggest thing that should be taken from the event is GHS's great schoolwide unity on display.
