Geneva Architecture Challenge: A Hacienda and a House that Tells Time

This week's Challenge homes represent the city's north and south sides.

Did you know Geneva has a hacienda? I ran across this Spanish-inspired home with its red-tiled roof and its exterior plaster medallions while walking to Gorecki’s Garage to retrieve my car after an oil change. I could almost hear the Flamenco guitar and the castanets in the background.

Our second Challenge home has two unusual distinctions. First, the street it faces is not the street the post office thinks it faces, since its address lists the street that runs along the side of the corner lot. Second, it’s probably the only house in Geneva that boasts a working clock on the outside wall.

“The children in our neighborhood love that clock because it tells them how much time they have left to get to school,” said the owner.
