On Thursday, September 20, at 6 p.m., the Geneva History Center will host Parma Conservation the firm tasked with the restoration of the Geneva Post Office mural, Fish Fry in the Park.  Elizabeth Kendall and Peter Schoenmann from Parma Conservation will discuss efforts to preserve this unique piece of public art.  Fish Fry in the Park is an impressive painted mural by Manuel Bromberg (b. 1917) and depicts scenes of Geneva’s Island Park.  It was recently reinstalled on the south wall of the Post Office after undergoing extensive conservation efforts.

Parma Conservation, located in Chicago, is one of the country's leading resources for the conservation of paintings and murals.

This program is held in conjunction with A Celebration of Rural America a traveling exhibition of American Art during the late 1920s and 1930s which will be at the Geneva History Center until October 31, 2012.

The program will take place at the Geneva History Center, 113 South Third Street, in the heart of Geneva’s historic downtown.  Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for members and students, Herrington Circle members free.    Please RSVP online at www.genevahistorycenter.org or call 630-232-4951 for more information.
