Painter Thomas Hart Benton Subject of Program at Geneva History Center

Enjoy the Geneva History Center’s presentation of Ken Burns’ Thomas Hart Benton movie biopic on Thursday, August 16, at 7:00 p.m.  Burns traces Benton’s life and career through rarely seen archival material, commentary by those who knew Benton, and Benton’s own volume of artwork to create a portrait of Benton as a 20th-century artist.

The Geneva History Center presents this movie in conjunction with A Celebration of Rural America, a traveling exhibition of American Art during the late 1920s and 1930s including original prints by Regionalists, Thomas Hart Benton, Grant Wood, and John Steuart Curry.  This exhibition will be at the Geneva History Center, 113 South Third Street, until October 31, 2012.

Admission is free to the August 16 event, but a suggested donation of $4 is appreciated.  Please RSVP online at www.genevahistorycenter.org or call 630-232-4951 for more information.
