On January 16, 1836, the Illinois legislature formed Kane County from unorganized territory attached to LaSalle County. On January 15, 2011, the Geneva History Center will open a special lobby exhibition, Kane County: 175 Years, to commemorate the 175th anniversary of its county. An exploration of historical Kane County Courthouses will reveal Geneva's intimate connection to the governmental history of Kane County. Included are artifacts from the original 1892 courthouse, past anniversaries and a new, three-dimensional model of the 1856 courthouse made by Dick Jaeger. Don't miss out, this special exhibit is only open through February 5, 2011.
The Geneva History Center is located at 113 South Third Street in the heart of historic downtown Geneva. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 630-232-4951.
