Build Gingerbread Houses, Snowmen at Persinger Rec Center

Looking for something for your kids to do—or for something you can do with them—during the holidays? The Geneva Park District has a bunch of creative classes in its 2011 lineup.

Here are a few:

Table Top Holiday Trees

This is one holiday class you do not want to miss!

Children will enjoy designing their very own table top trees for their home from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30. Children should bring their creativity and we will bring the tinsel, lights, ornaments and more. When our masterpieces are complete, each child will make a special table skirt for their tree. This class is suggested for children 2-12.

Cost is $35 for residents and $55 for non-residents.

Frosty the Snowman 

Build your very own snowman indoors!

Come in from the cold and enjoy building Frosty the Snowman indoors. Frosty the Snowman runs from 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 1. Our soft cuddly snowman is ready for stuffing! This class includes: your very own snowman, a ton of stuffing, stars to make a wish, birth certificates, t-shirts to decorate, and an adorable holiday blanket to take Frosty home in. This class is suggested for children ages 2-5 with parent.

Cost is $35 for residents and $55 for non-residents.

Holiday Drawing

Does your child love to draw?

This three class program will give children the opportunity to learn different drawing styles. This program will run each Saturday from 11 to 11:50 a.m. between Dec. 3 and Dec. 17. This program will also run from 5 to 5:50 p.m. on each Wednesday between Dec. 7 and Dec. 21 at the East Side Center, 14 N. Van Buren in Batavia.

On each day, we will draw a different creative drawing inspired by the holidays including: a stocking, a Santa, Singing Elves, a nutcracker and more. On day three, we will complete one large scene incorporating all the elements we have learned for a great Holiday Masterpiece. Pencils, markers, color pencils and Sharpies will be used.

Cost is $30 for residents and $45 for non-residents.

Amazing Gingerbread Houses

Build a gingerbread house with your family!

Bring the entire family and create a unique gingerbread house! Amazing Gingerbread Houses will run from 6 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 7. All supplies are provided, including a special snack and beverage. This program is suggested for ages 3-12.

Cost is $35 for residents and $55 for non-residents.

Parent & Me Holiday Reindeer 

Build your very own reindeer to take home!

Calling all moms and dads! Stuff an adorable holiday reindeer with your child from 6 to 7 p.m. on Dec.15. Each participant will stuff a reindeer, add a star to make a wish, decorate a holiday t-shirt, and create a rhinestone collar. Birth certificates are also provided.

Cost is $35 for residents and $55 for non-residents.
