Easter Vigil recalls empty tomb

On Holy Saturday of Holy Week, the Easter Vigil service will begin outdoors around a new fire. Candles lit from the fire carry the light into the darkened sanctuary, which represents the tomb that the women found empty. Lighting gradually
increases while the great Bible stories of God’s faithfulness through the ages are retold and Holy Communion is celebrated. A jubilant reception follows this joyous
service.
