Women in Business Linking Hearts in Mill Creek

Women business leaders enjoy friendship and networking through the Heart Link Network. Oh, and, of course, there was laughing and eating too!

About 20 business women meet twice a month in the home of Cristina Emigh on Mallory Drive in Mill Creek as members of the Heart Link Network. Patch joined them for their most recent gathering and found this to be a great way for women to connect and promote their passion.

Christina Emigh told the group, "Through relationships, everything happens." Co-leader Emigh is  a certified personal trainer for Make Time Fitness & Wellness and said that's what Heart Link Network founder Dawn Billings believes.

"Get to know each other, express who you are," Emigh said. "This is all about connecting so we can keep each other top of mind when you or someone you know needs something."

The mission of this group is to strengthen and expand life and business. There was no shortage of that. In addition to taking care of business, the ladies did quite a bit of laughing, sharing and, of course, bonding over a lunch.

Co-leader Viki Jeffrey and yoga instructor observed that attendance is better in the morning, and suggested switching the meetings to a morning only session. She went on to make an exciting announcement, about a group that includes men that would meet twice a month at another location. Many agree there are times a business represented by a man might come in handy.

Before moving on to the three-minute presentation to get to know who is "behind the card" and explain a good way to connect with people in their business, Jeffrey passed the timer and laid out the rules.

"We use a timer because we are women; so naturally, we like to talk," she said. "But we want to respect everyone's time."

Nutritionist Tiffany Triner offered a discount to all members and others chimed in with testimonials about the services she offers.

From there, the timer worked its way around the room as each woman spoke with passion about their individual endeavors.

Speaking of passion, Tammy Moore represents Passion Parties that offers a little help with that (it's about adult toys for women), and she reminded everyone that even the best couples can use a little help communicating in the bedroom.

Laura LaBelle of First Command Financial Services said "I have my work cut out for me, transitioning from passion to finance," but it didn't take long to grab everyone's attention when she passed out a complimentary copy of the book, "The Elephant in the Room." LaBelle focuses on the women's market, providing information and guidance to make better financial decisions.

The food, glorious food, was provided by Cindy Shuler who owns Cindy's Custom Catering with some very tasty wraps, salad, and petite pastry desserts we all raved about.

It was such a well-rounded experience, it was easy to forget we were there for business.

It seems the mission was accomplished as the women naturally connected and contributed to the energy of the group.
