Weekend Planner: Shakespeare in the Park, Grandquist Winner, Free Concerts—Wow!

There's so much going on this weekend, it's hard to keep track of it all!

July is hopping with activity in and around Geneva. There's so much going on

1.

  • Where/When: 6 p.m. Saturday at , 1 E. State St.
  • Why Go: The Midsummer Theatre Troupe will present William Shakespeare’s “.” Bring blankets and chairs.
  • Pricing: Free, but $5 donation would be nice.

2. GRANDQUIST WINNERS CONCERT

  • Where/When: 6 p.m. Sunday at , 2300 South St.
  • Why Go: First-place, Olympic-level recipients from the Granquist Music Competition June 25 at Geneva High School, will . Some amazing kids with amazing talent.
  • Pricing: Free.

3. ELVIS TRIBUTE SHOW—THREE FACES OF THE KING

  • Where/When: 8 p.m. Friday, at , 105 E. Main St., St Charles.
  • Why Go: The King is , and the show stars Shawn Klush, Rick Alviti and Cody Slaughter, backed by the Fabulous Ambassadors live band.
  • Pricing: $29-$59.

4. FREE CONCERT IN GENEVA'S RIVERPARK

  • Where/When: 6:30 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at RiverPark, Peyton Street and North River Lane
  • Why Go: Sponsored by the Geneva Cultural Arts Commission, this is a way for the community to get together, and for you to have some free family fun. Percussionists from Chicago’s VanderCook College will perform followed by Geneva’s 3rd Street Jazz Quartet!
  • Pricing: Free!

5. POLO TOURNAMENT

  • Where/When: Noon Sunday at , 1s530 Bliss Rd., Batavia.
  • Why Go: The annual  game is open to the public as a fund-raiser, with revenue shared between Batavia Main Street (specifically to help fund Shakespeare on Clark) and the Oswego Playhouse.
  • Pricing: $10 per person, $30 per carload.

  • Where/When: Cougars are at home Friday, Saturday and Sunday, playing the Great Lakes Loons.
  • Why Go: Friday is Super Heroes Night, and Friday and Saturday are fireworks nights.
  • Pricing: Tickets are $8 to $12 apiece, except for Saturdays, when they're $10 to $14

7AT HOME AT THE ZOO—SUMMER THEATER FEST

  • Where/When: 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday at , 111 W. Main St., Saint Charles.
  • Why Go: As part of the inaugural St. Charles Summer Theater Fest, a performance of the new  from American playwright Edward Albee, expanding on his “The Zoo Story.” In a unique staging twist, Act 1 will be performed at the Steel Beam Theatre and audiences will stroll to Lincoln Park for Act 2.
  • Pricing: $25.
