St. Charles Scarecrow Festival Opens Friday
Here are key links you needs to know to navigate Scarecrow Fest 2012.
There’s a chill in the air, leaves have begun to fall, and Walgreens has had its Halloween decorations up for at least several weeks now, which can mean only one thing: the St. Charles Scarecrow Fest is upon us!
While the annual festival is an exciting, fun event, which runs Friday through Sunday in the downtown area, it has grown to be such an attraction, local officials expect heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the downtown area. That also means crowded streets and limited parking.
The event, which is in its 27th year, is put on by the St. Charles Convention & Visitors Bureau, has set up a St. Charles Scarecrow Fest website, including a new mobile version this year — last year, the Scarecrow Fest website crashed due to a surge in use — by people with cellphones or other digital devices. Officials say the mobile should ensure a similar crash does not recur this season.
