RIVER FOREST—Woman’s Remains Found in River Forest—Police are conducting a death investigation after human remains were found in River Forest's Thatcher Woods, in the 8100 block of Chicago Avenue, at about 10 p.m. Thursday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

DOWNERS GROVE—Dupage Inn Sells Winning $275,000 Lotto Ticket—Lisle resident Dennis Murphy won $250,000 after matching all five numbers on a Lucky Day Lotto ticket Sept. 23.

BATAVIA—Major Changes at Fermilab—On Top of Government Shutdown— Even while physicists at Fermilab were celebrating the Nobel Prize won by theorists Peter Higgs and Francois Englert, big changes are taking place in the Fermilab organization, including dealing with the fallout of a partial government shutdown.

CLARENDON HILLS—IU Student From Clarendon Hills Found Dead—The cause of Abigail Bott's death has not been determined, police have said that foul play is not suspected.

ELMHURST—Every Year, This Display of Crosses at York and Madison Streets Stirs Controversy—Each of the hundreds of crosses on the lawn at Visitation Parish represents an abortion. Some people support the message. Others refuse to drive by it.

LEMONT—Lemont Firefighters Raise $7,500 for Former Chief's Granddaughter—Katie Churulo, the 5-year-old granddaughter of former Lemont Fire Chief Carl Churulo, is battling two rare diseases. A golf outing was held June 24 in her honor.

NAPERVILLE—Bail Set At $1 Million For Naperville Man Tied To Fake Minor Facebook Page—Eric Hakala is accused of maintaing a fake Facebook account to solicit minors for sexual encounters, officials said.

FOREST PARK—Forest Park Man Sentenced for 2012 Shooting—Forest Park man sentenced for shooting a Bellwood man in a 7-Eleven parking lot in 2012.

LA GRANGE—Run for Kelli on Nov. 16 to Benefit O'Laughlin Memorial Fund—The second Run for Kelli to honor LT freshman Kelli O’Laughlin, who was murdered in her Indian Head Park home in 2011. The run is set for Nov. 16 at Lyons Township High School's south campus.

DARIEN—Darien Man Volunteers Annually at Chicago Marathon—Vito Abbate, who works for Bank of America, volunteers at the finish line and puts medals around the finishers.

GLEN ELLYN—Glenbard West Teacher Earns Nomination for Outstanding Educator—Mark Staron left a lasting impression on his students.

ST. CHARLES—Police Warn Parents After Man Allegedly Used Facebook to Contact Minors in St. Charles, Batavia—Naperville man allegedly used fictitious Facebook account for sexual conversations with minors.

ST. CHARLES—Warm Welcome to Charlestowne Mall Reboot—The St. Charles Plan Commission continues its public hearing on the $70 million renovation to later this month.

WHEATON—Wheaton Getting New French-Style Bakery in November—Taiwanese immigrant Hao Chang hopes to open Pample Mousse Bakery before Thanksgiving in the City downtown.

WHEATON—Woman Spots Naked Man At Wheaton Apartment Complex: Police Blotter—The man was wearing nothing but a skull cap, according to a police report.

GENEVA—Gas Leak Shuts Down Keslinger Road Near School Bus Station—School buses are delayed, but only by about 10 minute, after a gas leak shuts down Keslinger Road for five hours Wednesday near the transportation center where Geneva houses all its school buses.
