On the Web: Geneva Couple Catches Hoax Charleston, SC, Bank Robbery on Video

Craig and Gayle Voelker went to Charleston, SC, on a visit and caught what appeared to be a bank robbery on video, according to a terrific story and column by the Post and Courier.

Craig and Gayle Voelker of Geneva caught some video of what looked like a bank robbery Wednesday at a Charleston, SC, Wachovia.

A wonderful news story and column by David MacDougall of The Post and Courier showcases the Voelkers' raw video and gets their reaction to the story.

Apparently, the Voelkers were visiting the Daughters of the Confederacy Museum when they saw the aftermath of the "robbery" and apparent capture of the criminals involved.

Only thing is, the whole spectacular crime event was triggered by a bit of a misunderstanding.

You can read the whole story and see the Voelkers' video right here on the postandcourier.com, but the gist of it is that some guy went up to the teller "and said he was being held against his will and forced to withdraw money from his account," the article said.

The man said the guy behind him had a gun and was forcing him to make the withdrawal.

The police sprung to action, and before you could say Wachovia, they had the place surrounded.

Anyway, I don't want to ruin the ending. Check out the stories—and that video—on postandcourier.com.
