Metra: Delays are Likely Monday Due to Extreme Cold

Extreme cold Monday "would likely create unanticipated delays or service disruptions" along Metra lines in the Chicago area, according to a winter weather alert posted on Metra's website. 

A 25-minute delay had been reported on the Milwaukee District/West Line as of 9:30 a.m. Monday and delays had also been reported on the Milwaukee District/North Line and the BNSF Railway, according to the Metra website.

The National Weather Service forecast includes a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the Chicago area that may adversely affect portions of the region served by Metra.  

Please be advised that as always, we will make every reasonable effort to assure your timely and comfortable commute.  Unfortunately, weather conditions beyond our control will likely create unanticipated delays or service disruptions.  

Depending on the severity of conditions in specific areas on Monday, February 10, 2014, your train may experience delays due to temperature-related speed restrictions.
