Library Now Has Online Archive of The Geneva Republican

The Geneva Public Library has put together what I think is a remarkable and extremely cool feature on its website: an online index of The Geneva Republican going back to 1878.

If you've ever tried going through back issues using the old microfiche film, you'll feel the joy of this breakthrough.

And if you're a history buff or genealogy aficionado or a sports fan, you can get hooked for hours — as I did this morning — just trolling through the site.

You can browse collections of newspapers by decade, browse titles or find what you're looking for in a simple search. The search is a little hard to use, and I'm not sure if that's just me or if the site is still in the "alpha" stage. There's a nice YouTube video how-to that walks through the search functionality.

I'd like to write more, but I've spent the morning browsing so much that I'm waaaay behind.

Thank you to the Geneva Public Library for this wonderful collection.
